The world is going to the dogs.  Sit. Stay. Wash your paws.

Sarah Matheson was studying towards her Advanced Diploma in Creative Product Development when COVID19 arrived in Perth via Corona virus carrying cruise ships. A hard lock down had her pivot her project to a socially distanced approach. Seeking to flatten the curve the original book idea was shelved and The Uncommon Cold was exposed.

The Uncommon Cold series results from a view that the only ones benefitting from the new normal were the dogs. What better way to explore the expanding pandemic vocabulary than through the eyes of our canine companions?

In times of trouble sometimes the only thing left to do is find a release through humour. Being owned by 1 ½ sausage dogs Sarah had ready access to two accommodating clown dogs who worked for treats and didn’t impose on the toilet paper stocks.

This exhibition features selected images from the book, The Uncommon Cold: A Dog’s perspective.

Sarah Matheson is a Perth based pet photographer and student at North Metro TAFE.
