Every year another flock of talented graduates is released from Creative Industries training at Central TAFE.

To celebrate their achievements, a season of graduate exhibitions runs through November and December, both on-site and off-site. This includes film screenings and fashion parades as well as displays of art, photography and a number of design areas.

Now in its 19th year, the Young Originals Exhibition is a showcase of up and coming WA artistic talent, featuring an array of outstanding works by the top public school students in Years 8 to 12.

Indigenous Art from the South-West

These paintings by Indigenous artists from the South-West speak of a passion for place and often have a surreal, spiritual longing for an Arcadian past. The Carrolup style has had a profound influence on artists of the region as it so perfectly captures the distinctive natural world of southern Western Australia.

Guy and Margaret Vinciguerra celebrate the ancient and contemporary butting up against

each other in Rome, finding beauty in the ordinary and the monumental.

Guy’s exuberant photographs compliment Margaret’s abstracted paintings. Partners in life

and art, they share a love of colour and a love of Roma.

Now in its third year, the awards honor Michael Collins a well known and respected West Australian caricature artist. Entries come from around Australia, from amateur and professional artists including many past winners of Stanley and Walkley Awards, the Archibald Prize, and Bald Archy’s.

This exhibition comprises of powerful artwork in a variety of mediums that participants at Reflections have been working on throughout the year. The name of the exhibition makes reference to the ‘Outsider Art’ movement, also known as Raw Art or Art Brut, which is now recognised world wide as a strong art movement that runs alongside mainstream and professional art.

Outsider Art is that which is done by some people with mental illness and it often spans Naive Art and some Indigenous and Folk Art.
