From Another View Creative Fellowship Exhibition

30 May – 22 June

Yamaji, Martu, Yarnangu and Anangu artists contextualise their understanding of Country with those of the explorer John Forrest and his 1874 trek from Geraldton to Adelaide.

Yamaji Art in Geraldton will focus on traditional knowledge of water, Tjukurba Art Gallery at Wiluna represent landscape and foods while Ngaanyatjarra young people from Warburton share their intimate experience of country that John Forrest could only observe.

Creative Fellow Bill Gannon, a non-Indigenous artist, visited sites along the historical trek and was guided by Traditional Owners.

Presented by The State Library of WA in partnership with the Minderoo Foundation, aspects of the project span 3 sites from 7 May – 26 July, including SLWA and Museum of Geraldton.
