c2020 – Creative Industries at NMTAFE
We have had many names and evolutions but it all started back in 1900 on St Georges Terrace when Perth Technical College commenced training in art and design.
Since then thousands of our graduates have gone on to forge careers in art and design.
Our staff and graduates are a crucial part of the development of our rich cultural life in Western Australia and further afield. We couldn’t be prouder of them!

STUFF – NMTAFE art design lecturers
Our graduates all have one thing to say – the lecturing and technical staff at TAFE were an inspiration. In this show of staff work, selected former lecturers exhibit alongside our current team.

Every year we select the best of graduates of the previous year to show off the achievements of our students – Visual Art, Photography, 3D Product Design & Object Jewellery Design, Fashion & Textile Design, Graphic Design, Interior Design, Screen & Media, Animation & Games.

MARK PARFITT – Overhouse
An examination of the home as a site for sculpture. Combining DIY construction, audience participation and the artist’s own house, the project contribute to a conversations seeking new understandings of homemaking beyond the expectations of ordinary living in the suburbs of Perth.
24 APRIL – 16 MAY
TAMI XIANG – Peasantography
Xiang is a Perth based Chinese-Australian artist and photography graduate of NMTAFE now undertaking a PhD at UWA. The exhibition brings together conceptual documentary works that look at conditions for Chinese families in the countryside. 61 million ‘Left Behind Children’ are raised by their grandparents or great grandparents while their own parents work in cities sometimes thousands of miles away. Most of these children only see their parents once a year or once every few years.
