The creative and technical focus that they have attained, and their commitment to excel, will be invaluable in whatever it is that they pursue as a career.

These students have been engaged for three years in full-time study with leading contemporary artists, designers, mentors and technical specialists in our exceptional studio based facilities. Screen, animation, fine art, photography, fashion and textiles, graphic design, design for industry, interior design and interior decoration are featured this year.

Watch out for these talented graduates as they mark their mark on the visual culture of Perth over the next few years.

This is the fifth year that the Minter Ellison Youth Arts Foundation has sponsored this show of Central TAFE’s outstanding graduates. The Foundation contributes to the flowering of our local culture through support of emerging artists, leading the way in new models of corporate sponsorship.  The Perth office of Minter Ellison

Lawyers established the Minter Ellison Youth Arts Foundation to provide support, financial assistance and encouragement to Western Australia’s aspiring young visual and performing artists.

Sands of Peace and Harmony

12 – 21 February

Experience the creation of a sacred sand mandala by 4 Tibetan Buddhist Monks, including morning chanting meditations. After 9 days of painstaking construction of the intricate pattern from memory (using coloured marbled sands through brass funnels), the whole artwork is swept up by the Monks and dispatched to the river, emphasising not the futility of life and art, but the impermanence of existence.

Presented in partnership with TARA, and with support the City of Perth and Office of Multicultural Interests, WA.

3pm Tuesday 12 February 2008:

Opening ceremony includes chanting meditation and the pouring of the first sands. Please be punctual.

8.30am 13-16 & 18-21 Feb:

Daily chanting meditation – please be punctual.

3pm Thursday 21 February:

Closing ceremony includes chanting meditation and sweeping up of the completed artwork,

then off to the river in a convoy!
